Non-self — one of the Three Marks of Existence and a distinguishing doctrine of Buddhism. There is no permanent, unchanging self or soul (atman). What we call 'self' is a conventional designation for the five aggregates (form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness), all of which are impermanent and not-self.
